This book is an abridgment of Ihya Ulum al-Din (The Revival of Religious Sciences), summarized by the eminent scholar Ibn Qudamah al-Maqdisi (may God have mercy on him). He omitted the legalistic material and selected texts, narrations, and stories that fulfilled the purpose without being verbose or deficient. He made this abridgment a book of exhortation, ethics, and moral instruction, written in simple language, with a coherent structure and an elegant style.
