About Gomoku - Offline Five in a Row
Gomoku (five in a row) to play alone or with a friend, no internet needed. No sign-in.
■ Pick a rule and see it on the board
- Choose one of three rule sets for each game: Korean rule, Renju or Freestyle.
- Korean rule: exactly five in a row wins, no double three for either side, and six in a row is not a win.
- Renju: Black may not make a double three, a double four or six or more in a row. White wins with six or more too.
- Freestyle: nothing is forbidden, and five or more in a row wins.
- Forbidden points are marked ✕ on the board when it is your turn.
- Tap a ✕ to see why that point can't be played.
- The result names the rule too. Example: Black made five in a row, Korean rule.
- The rules page opens any time, even during a game.
■ Play the computer
- Six levels, from Beginner to Master.
- Play Black (moves first) or White.
- Stuck? Ask for a hint.
- Your record (wins, draws, losses) by rule and level.
■ 2 players on one phone
- Put one phone between you and take turns.
- The board does not turn, so sit side by side.
- Pick any of the three rules. Forbidden points follow whose turn it is.
■ No misplaced stones
- Tap a point to preview the stone with a crosshair.
- Tap Place, or the same point again, to play it. Tap another point to move the preview.
- Turn this off in Settings to place stones at once.
■ Easy to play
- Unlimited undo.
- Every move is saved. A call or closing the app won't lose your game.
- The last move is marked with a dot, and the winning five with a line.
- You are warned when the only point that blocks a five is forbidden for you.
- Vibration when a stone is placed can be turned off.
■ Privacy
Your games and records are stored on your phone and are never sent to our servers. If Android backup is on, they are included in your Google account backup, so they can carry over to a new phone.
