Kryptowire views security and privacy in a specific way, we take the view that cybersecurity and privacy is really about understanding the risk. The words secure and private are thrown around giving the illusion that somehow these are binary categories, in the real world this is simply not true.

Security comes from understanding your current set of risks and taking steps to mitigate them or accept them. In order to do this effectively, you need to be able to see what your potential risks are, and on mobile devices this can prove hard to understand. This is where Kryptowire Insights comes in.

Insights runs a full analysis of every APP on your device. It understands what each APP has access to, what each APP is doing at a code level, what communication channels that APP is using. It then uses this information to define a set of Indicators of Risk. We use these to determine the risk of each APP. Is an APP sending your photos to a known data broker? Is this APP not protecting your data sufficiently? How much data does a particular app collect? All these are looked at and used to drive insights into the security risks of the APP.

We use the same engine to drive insights into the security risks of not just individual APPs. But how those APPs communicate with each other, how they communicate with the device itself and the risks inherent on the device before you install anything. Which OS from which vendor. All these affect the security risks of your device.
