KathaYatra: Trek & Katha

हर यात्रा की एक कथा है — Every journey has a story.

KathaYatra is a travel companion for trekkers and pilgrims of India. It records your journey with altitude, stamps your photos with place and height, and tells you the mythology, history and folklore of the sacred places around you — cited to the Puranas, Vedas, epics and living tradition. And it keeps working where the mountains cut the signal.

⛰ TRACK YOUR YATRA — ALTITUDE FIRST
• Automatic route recording, even with the screen locked in your pocket
• Live altitude from barometer + offline elevation data
• Elevation profile, total climb, highest point — free, not paywalled
• Replay your journey: the route draws itself while the camera follows
• Export a Trip Reel — a beautiful vertical video of your yatra for Instagram Reels & YouTube Shorts

📷 STAMP THE MOMENT
• Photos stamped with altitude, coordinates, place name and date
• Trekker-card and minimal templates; a clean copy saved alongside
• Works offline — place names come from your downloaded pack

📿 THE KATHA OF WHERE YOU STAND
• 500+ sacred places mapped: the 12 Jyotirlingas, Char Dham, Shakti Peethas, 108 Divya Desams, Panch Kedar, and offbeat trails like Har Ki Dun, Chandratal, Kinnaur Kailash and Roopkund
• Many stories per place — शास्त्र (scripture), लोक-कथा (folk tale), इतिहास (history) and modern lore — each labelled and cited to its source
• Hindi and English, written respectfully; never invented
• Search any place or story — fully offline

🏔 MADE FOR THE MOUNTAINS
• Trek Packs: download maps, elevation and every katha for a route before you go — then everything works with zero signal
• Battery-conscious tracking built for multi-day treks

🔒 YOURS, PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
• Your trips live on your phone; nothing uploads unless you turn on backup
• Optional account to back up and restore your yatras across devices
• Share a yatra with a private link — revocable anytime, never indexed by search engines
• No ads. We never sell your data.

Whether you're climbing to Kedarnath, circling the Ashtavinayak, camping at Chandratal, or driving past a hill temple you've always wondered about — KathaYatra tells you the story the land has kept.

Note: KathaYatra uses background location only to record your route and altitude while a yatra is active. You can decline and track only while the app is open.
