UK VAT numbers are checked at HMRC's official service (UK checking is not included in this version): https://www.gov.uk/check-uk-vat-number

VATProof reports exactly what the official EU service returns and adds nothing of its own to it. If a result here ever differs from the official source above, the official source is the correct one. Both links are also shown inside the app, on the first-run notice and under Settings → Data source.

VATProof checks EU VAT registration numbers and keeps the evidence. Every check you run is written to an archive you cannot quietly edit later, so when a tax authority asks why you zero-rated an invoice eighteen months ago, you have an answer with a date on it.

🔎 CHECK A NUMBER, KEEP THE PROOF Enter a customer's VAT number and VATProof validates the country format, runs the check, and stores the result with a timestamp. Valid, not valid, or the check could not be completed — each outcome gets its own colour, icon and plain sentence.

🧾 AN ARCHIVE THAT DOES NOT REWRITE ITSELF Validation records are append-only by design. Nothing in the app edits or overwrites the outcome of a past check. Records leave only when you delete the client they belong to, and that takes two confirmations.

📄 PROOF PDF YOU CAN HAND TO AN ACCOUNTANT Turn any validation into a PDF showing the number checked, the result, the date and the client it belongs to. Export a single record or the whole archive in bulk, and share it straight from the app.

VATProof reports what the official EU VIES service (https://ec.europa.eu/taxation_customs/vies/) returns. A failed or unavailable check is always shown as a failed check, never as an invalid number, because those two things have very different consequences on a real invoice. VATProof does not give tax advice and does not decide how you should treat a transaction — that is between you and your accountant. UK VAT checking is not included in this version.
