About FrostAlarm: Garden Frost Alert

Frost kills plants overnight. The forecast that would have saved them was available the evening before — you just did not see it in time.

FrostAlarm does one thing. It watches the overnight low for the places you care about and sends you a notification while there is still time to cover, move or water. One threshold, one alert, one decision.

❄️ THE EVENING WARNING
• A single clear alert when tonight's low crosses your frost threshold
• Delivered early enough to act — not at 6am when it is already over
• Says how cold the air and the ground may get, so you know whether fleece is enough

🌡️ YOUR THRESHOLD, NOT A GENERIC ONE
• Set the temperature that matters for what you grow
• One alert temperature you choose, plus automatic ground-frost and hard-freeze warnings
• Tender seedlings, citrus in pots and hardy brassicas do not need the same number

📍 SEVERAL PLACES AT ONCE
• The allotment, the greenhouse, the front garden, your parents' house
• Each location gets its own threshold and its own alerts
• A valley plot frosts before the street it is named after — track it separately

📅 THE NIGHTS AHEAD
• Outlook view with the overnight low for the coming nights
• See a cold snap building instead of being surprised by it
• Plan the weekend's planting around it

📖 FROST LOG AND FROST DATES
• Frost nights are logged automatically from the evening forecast, and you can add frosts you saw
• Build your own first-frost and last-frost history for each location
• After a season or two you know your real frost dates — not the regional average printed on a seed packet
• Export the log as CSV

🔕 QUIET BY DEFAULT
• No alerts on nights that are not cold. The app stays silent for most of the year
• No daily weather spam, no widgets you did not ask for, no news feed

WHY GARDENERS USE IT
• It is not a weather app. It is one alert that arrives when it matters
• Works for a balcony, an allotment, a smallholding or an orchard
• Your own frost history beats any regional planting calendar
• No account and no sign-in

PERFECT FOR
• Vegetable growers protecting seedlings in spring and crops in autumn
• Container gardeners with tender plants to bring inside
• Fruit growers watching blossom during a cold snap
• Anyone who has lost a tray of tomatoes to one unwatched night

FREE AND PREMIUM The free version covers one location with a two-night outlook. Premium unlocks unlimited locations, the full 7-night outlook, orchard early-warning alerts and CSV export of the log, and removes the ads. Pick monthly or yearly, or buy the lifetime unlock once. Subscriptions renew until you cancel them in Google Play; the lifetime unlock is a single payment and never renews.

IMPORTANT FrostAlarm uses public forecast data and is a gardening aid, not a safety system. Forecasts are estimates and local conditions — hollows, walls, clear skies, wind — can differ by several degrees from the nearest forecast point. Do not rely on it to protect anything you cannot afford to lose, and never rely on it for decisions about people, livestock or property safety.

What’s new

Version 1.2.4 · Updated September 25, 2026

• The evening frost check runs at 17:00 every day, even after a clock or time-zone change. • If the forecast can't be fetched, the app retries and uses tonight's saved forecast instead of skipping. • "Tonight" always means tonight, with the date it was updated. • Temperatures typed with a comma (2,0) now save. • Watch Ad asks once, not twice, and the add button no longer covers the last row. • Premium stays unlocked if Google Play can't be reached for a moment.
