Ar-Rayyan: Rakat Counter

Ar-Rayyan counts your rak'ahs while you pray.

Ever lost count in the middle of salah? Ar-Rayyan was built to solve exactly that, and grew into a calm, complete, ad-free prayer companion: accurate Muslim prayer times, adhan notifications, the Holy Quran with recitation, a Qibla compass and a digital tasbih, in one free app.

Everything runs on your phone. No ads. No accounts. No data collected. Free, and staying free.

🤲 AUTOMATIC RAKAT COUNTER

The reason this app exists. Put your phone down on the prayer mat and Ar-Rayyan watches for your sujood with the front camera, counting your rakats for you — no tapping, no counting on your fingers, no beads.

(Also spelled rakat, rakah, rakaat or raka'ah — Ar-Rayyan counts them all the same way.)

• For the most accurate count, pray in good light with nothing hanging over the phone
• One tap to correct the count if it ever drifts

Nothing is recorded, uploaded or saved. Camera frames are processed on your device and never leave it.

If you have ever finished a prayer genuinely unsure whether that was three rakats or four, this is for you.

📖 THE HOLY QURAN

All 114 surahs in Uthmani script, with the Saheeh International translation and transliteration under every verse. Surah names appear in the calligraphy of the printed Madinah Mushaf. Continue where you left off, save verses, share a verse as an image, and read offline.

🎧 QURAN RECITATION

Mishary Rashid Alafasy, with each verse highlighted as it is recited. Download a surah once, then listen offline with lock-screen controls.

🕌 MUSLIM PRAYER TIMES & ADHAN

Accurate prayer times for your exact location — Fajr, Dhuhr, Asr, Maghrib and Isha — with a live countdown to the next salah and the whole day at a glance.

• Adhan notifications: a full azan, a short azan, a tone, or silent — your choice
• A separate Fajr adhan, as it should be
• 7 calculation methods: Muslim World League, ISNA, FCNA, Umm al-Qura, Egyptian, Karachi and Diyanet (Turkey)
• Standard or Hanafi Asr
• The Hijri (Umm al-Qura) date beside today's date
• Prayer times are calculated on your device, so your namaz times keep working with no signal

🧭 QIBLA COMPASS

A smooth, accurate Qibla finder pointing to the Kaaba from anywhere on earth — and it tells you when a magnet or metal nearby is pulling your phone's compass off, instead of quietly pointing the wrong way.

📿 DIGITAL TASBIH

A dhikr counter with the common adhkar already in it — SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, La ilaha illa Allah, Astaghfirullah — plus the after-prayer tasbeeh sequence of 33, 33 and 34. Haptic feedback lets you count without looking, and your count is kept between sessions.

🏠 HOME SCREEN WIDGET

The next prayer and its countdown on your home screen, without opening anything.

💚 FREE, PRIVATE, NO ADS

Ar-Rayyan is completely free. No ads, no subscription, no in-app purchases, no sign-up, no account, and no feature behind a paywall.

No data is collected and none is shared. Your location and the camera are used only on your phone, only to do their job.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Does the camera record me?
No. Frames are analysed on your phone as you pray and immediately discarded. Nothing is written to storage, and the app has no server to send anything to.

Do I need internet?
Not for praying. Once Ar-Rayyan knows where you are, your salah times, the Qibla direction, the rakat counter and the Quran all work offline. Recitation downloads once per surah.

Will it drain my battery?
The camera runs only while the rakat tracker is open. Nothing else runs in the background except the prayer alarm, and recitation while you listen.

Which prayers can it count?
Any prayer of 2, 3 or 4 rakats: the five daily prayers, Sunnah, Witr and Tahajjud. You choose the number of rakats before you begin.

Is it really free?
Yes. Completely free, with no ads and nothing to buy.

Made by one Muslim developer, for anyone who prays.

May Allah accept your prayers. 🤍
