The Ring Hike is a walking RPG that uses your phone's built-in step counter to move your hero across a 2,850 km fantasy world. Every real step you take advances your character on the map — no taps, no minigames, just walking.

HOW IT WORKS
The app reads your phone's step sensor in the background. Your daily steps are converted to kilometres and applied to your hero's position on the map. A permanent background notification keeps the counter running reliably even when the screen is off or the app is closed.

🗺️ 50 LOCATIONS TO DISCOVER
The route spans 50 named locations across different fantasy regions. Each location unlocks automatically when you reach its km threshold and includes a short lore description. A fog-of-war map reveals the world as you progress.

⚔️ COMBAT ENCOUNTERS
As you walk, your hero randomly encounters enemies: orcs, goblins, veterans, cave trolls and others. Each encounter is resolved automatically based on your equipped gear. Outcomes include victory (gold reward), defeat (gold loss) or having an item stolen. A combat log records every fight.

🛡️ EQUIPMENT & INVENTORY
Your hero has four equipment slots (head, chest, left hand, right hand). Items are earned by reaching milestones or winning encounters. Each item has attack, defense or stealth stats that affect combat outcomes.

👥 COMPANIONS
At specific milestones, named companions join your fellowship and hand you a unique item. Up to 9 companions can be recruited across the full journey.

🛒 TRAVELER'S SHOP
A shop appears every 25 km. You can spend gold on single-use consumable items that activate automatically during a combat you would otherwise lose.

🏃 WEEKLY PURSUIT EVENT
Once a week, a pursuer chases your hero for one day. Walk at least 5 km that day to escape and earn a gold bonus, or lose gold if caught. A marker on the map shows how close the pursuer is.

📖 JOURNAL
All events — location arrivals, companion meetings, encounters and story milestones — are recorded in a scrollable journal with timestamps.
