About Daleel: Halal Label Reader

Daleel is a halal scanner that reads the ingredients panel.

Most halal apps are barcode databases. They look a product up and hand back a stored verdict, and if the product is not in the database, you get nothing.

Daleel reads the printed ingredient list with your camera and gives a ruling on that product, naming the exact additive that decided it and the reason it decided it.

WHAT DALEEL CHECKS
Gelatin, E471 mono- and diglycerides, glycerol, L-cysteine, rennet, whey, natural flavourings, shellac, cochineal, carmine, emulsifiers, enzymes, alcohol and trace ethanol, pork derivatives, and E-numbers of unstated origin.

HALAL, HARAM OR DOUBTFUL - WITH THE EVIDENCE
A colour is not an answer. When an app says a biscuit is doubtful without saying which ingredient caused it, you cannot act on that and you cannot verify it.

Every ruling here names the ingredient, says what it is made from, and explains the principle applied. You can check the working, disagree with it, or take it to someone who knows more.

IT REPORTS WHERE SCHOLARS DIFFER
Scholars genuinely differ on some substances. Shellac is a secretion, and many permit it on that basis while others are cautious. Cochineal is the insect itself, which most avoid and a minority allow.

Shellac, cochineal, trace ethanol, rennet and L-cysteine are each recorded as matters on which qualified scholars differ, with both positions given, rather than one verdict presented as settled.

IT WILL NOT GUESS
Slaughter method cannot be inferred from a brand name or a country of origin, so Daleel does not try. Meat without stated certification is reported as doubtful, not quietly passed and not condemned.

Where a source genuinely cannot be established, the answer is doubtful. "Leave that which makes you doubt for that which does not make you doubt."

THE INGREDIENT BOOK - FREE, NO ACCOUNT
47 additives and E-numbers, each with what it is, where it comes from, the ruling that follows, and what to verify with the manufacturer. Gelatine, E471, glycerol, L-cysteine, rennet, whey, natural flavourings - the ones that actually come up.

Free to read. You do not need a subscription or an account to open it.

THE METHOD
The default for food is permissibility. Something is called haram only on clear evidence - pork and its derivatives, intoxicants, blood, carrion, or meat not slaughtered according to Islamic requirements. Anything else whose source cannot be established is doubtful.

ASK WHEN YOU ARE UNSURE
A built-in assistant answers questions about additives, slaughter, and ingredients you keep running into. Anything it names that the ingredient book covers opens straight to the full entry.

YOUR RECORD
Every scan is kept, so you can check what you decided last time without scanning it again.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT
No sign-up, no email, no password. An anonymous ID is created on first launch.

IMPORTANT
This is guidance read from the label, with its reasoning shown. It is a tool for making an informed decision, not a binding fatwa. For anything consequential, ask a qualified scholar.

SUBSCRIPTION
Unlimited scans, the assistant, full rulings with evidence, and your scan history. Weekly and yearly plans, with an introductory price for the first week. Plans renew automatically unless cancelled at least 24 hours before the period ends; manage or cancel in Google Play.

What’s new

Version 1.0.25 · Updated September 11, 2026

Subscription pricing now always displays in your own currency, exactly as Google Play will charge it. Every price on the subscription screen - the headline, the plan cards, the timeline and the button - is taken directly from Google Play for your country, so the amount you see is the amount you pay. The renewal and cancellation terms now correctly reference Google Play.
