Foilwise: Stained Glass Calc

Foilwise does the materials arithmetic for stained glass makers, offline.

Pick a panel shape or list your own pieces, add the colours and their sheet price, choose copper foil or lead/zinc came, and see exactly how much glass, copper foil, solder or came you need - then turn it into a quote with labour, overhead and your markup or margin.

CALCULATE
• Panel: rectangle, circle, a custom area, or a list of pieces (count, width, height or area, colour)
• Colours: each with its share of the panel, a sheet size and a price per sheet or per area
• Waste allowance: simple (10%), medium (15%), complex (25%), or your own percentage
• Seams: type the internal seam length, or let Foilwise estimate it from the piece count and average piece size
• Copper foil: a suggested foil width for the glass thickness you enter, roll length and price
• Solder: a usual rate per length of seam (one or two sides), spool weight and price
• Lead or zinc came: U came for the perimeter, H came for the internal seams, stick length, an offcut allowance, and price per stick

RESULTS AND QUOTE
• Panel area with waste, sheets to buy per colour, and materials cost
• Foil length and rolls to buy, or solder weight and spools, or came sticks (U and H counted separately)
• Materials total, then add labour hours and rate, overhead percentage, and a markup or target margin - both shown side by side
• Quote price, profit, and price per square foot or square metre
• Copy or share a plain-text shopping list and quote

PROJECTS
• Save any calculation as a project, with notes
• Rename, duplicate or delete (with undo)
• Keep a supply price list of the glass colours you buy often, so a new project starts from them

SETTINGS
• Metric or imperial units, currency symbol, light or dark theme
• Default waste, solder rate, foil roll, and came stick settings
• Backup and restore to a file you choose, through the share sheet
