Chato helps you follow spoken content, hold conversations across languages, and keep notes from what you learn.

LISTEN AND TALK
Use Listen to follow speech with translated captions. Use Talk for conversations where each person speaks their own language. Read the original text alongside the translation and play translated speech when available.

TEXT AND KEYBOARD TRANSLATION
Translate text in Chato or use the Chato keyboard with compatible apps. Preview selected text before choosing to send it for translation.

JOIN OR HOST EVENTS
Join an event to follow its translated captions. Hosts can create events and manage live translation. Event time is accounted for separately from the conversation time used by Listen and Talk.

NOTES ON YOUR DEVICE
Save supported session content as notes for later reading. Edit your notes, revisit source text, and request AI summaries or language-learning notes. Saved notes remain on your device. Reading, editing and deleting local notes do not require AI permission.

YOU CHOOSE WHEN TO ALLOW AI
AI translation and AI note organization ask for separate permission. Translation processes the audio and text you choose to send through OpenAI or, for some Beta languages, Google Gemini. Summaries and learning notes send note source text to OpenAI. After you allow note organization, opening Notes may automatically organize eligible notes. If you choose Not now, local notes remain available and the automatic prompt will not appear on every visit. You can choose to allow it later when requesting organization manually.

AVAILABILITY AND ACCESS
AI features require an internet connection. Some features require an account and an eligible purchase or subscription. Conversation time and Event Passes are separate; see the app for available options. Language support varies by feature and service availability. Some languages are marked Beta and are not available for event translation.
