LCD Explorer

Unique molecules make sharp pictures
We enjoy our brilliant home cinema and detailed maps on our smartphones thanks to state-of-the art display materials. Liquid crystals are at the heart of modern displays, on which they produce amazingly sharp images. But how do they do this? What is the central role of liquid crystals in a display? And what does the structure of an LC display look like?

Our interactive LCD Explorer gives illustrative answers to these questions. It has been developed for all those who not only use modern displays, but also want to understand them.

Explore fascinating LCD technologies
Just one click on the animation makes you shrink to pixel size - and the virtual journey through an LCD can begin.
Surf through different layers and technologies and stop where you would like to learn more. Clear texts provide information on structure, pixel profile, functions, and much more. With the switching function you are in control: Define different voltages and experience how they affect the structure of the liquid crystal layer and the color effect.
