Dogear: EPUB·TXT·PDF Reader

Dogear is a reader for web novels and ebooks in EPUB, TXT and PDF formats. Adjust fonts, spacing, backgrounds and page controls to suit how you read. Keep highlights, notes, bookmarks and chapter reflections together by book.

Read your books

- Add EPUB, TXT and PDF files to your library. Select several books from a folder or attach more files to the same title. Added files are copied into the app.
- For EPUB and TXT, adjust fonts, text size, line and paragraph spacing, margins and backgrounds. Set the brightness to suit your screen and surroundings.
- Turn pages or scroll through the text. Choose left/right or top/bottom tap areas for page turns. You can also use the volume keys and keep the screen awake.
- Show two pages side by side, or switch back to a single page. Two-page view is not available while scrolling.
- Search for words or phrases in EPUB and TXT books and jump to a result. Search chapter titles in the table of contents to find a section.
- Read PDFs in their original layout, with fixed text size. PDFs containing text can be converted to EPUB. Image-only scans cannot be converted.
- Listen to EPUB and TXT books read aloud. Choose separate voices for narration, dialogue and inner thoughts, set the speed, and tap a sentence to listen from there. A listening timer and touch lock are included, and playback continues when you leave the app or the screen turns off.
- On E Ink devices, enable a white background and black text with reduced screen motion and page effects. You can set a full-screen refresh after a chosen number of pages.
- A separate app-wide high-contrast setting makes text and lines more distinct in the light theme.

Keep reading notes

- Highlight passages in EPUB and TXT books and attach notes. Bookmark places you want to revisit. Find your highlights, notes and bookmarks in one place. To highlight a PDF, convert it to EPUB first.
- Write reflections for a chapter, volume or page, or cover a range of chapters in one entry. Leave out the chapter reference to save a general reflection.
- Add an overall comment on a book. You can keep records for titles without an attached book file, too. Create shelves and organize titles by reading status, such as reading or finished.
- Days when you read in the viewer or write a reflection appear on the calendar. Add missing entries by choosing a date. Review your year and reading streaks in their own views. The monthly summary counts reading days; its book and reflection totals are based on your reflection entries.

Store and back up

- Books and reading records stay on your device. Reading and writing notes work offline.
- Export records and settings in a single backup file, with an optional password. Original book files are included by default, and you can leave them out.
- Restore from a backup to replace your current records and settings with its contents. If you left out the original books, add those files again after restoring.
