Picture Rail displays public-domain art and historical photographs on your Android TV or Google TV.

ART THAT FITS YOUR TV

The picture frame meets all four edges of the TV screen, with a thin mount inside it. There is no simulated wall between the frame and your TV bezel.

The catalogue contains over 1,400 widescreen works, including more than 150 photographs, from the National Gallery of Art, Rijksmuseum and The Met. Choose a collection of paintings, photographs, prints or drawings and let it change at a relaxed pace.

Only widescreen source images at least 3840 × 2160 pixels are included. The app fits the complete image inside the mount, preserving its proportions without cropping, stretching or enlarging beyond the available pixels. The mount accommodates small differences in image shape.

Choose from four frame styles and four mount colours. The viewing screen and screensaver use the same edge-to-edge presentation.

SEVEN-DAY TRIAL, THEN ONE PAYMENT

Try the whole app for seven days from installation. After the trial, a one-time purchase unlocks it. Your local price is shown in the app. There is no subscription, advertising or separate account to create.

SCREENSAVER AND PANEL CARE

Where your TV supports third-party screensavers, select Picture Rail in its system screensaver settings. On other devices, open Picture Rail and leave it running.

During screensaver playback, the image opening and inner frame edge change slightly over time. The outside of the frame stays against the screen edges. The app also provides brightness controls and an operating schedule. These measures do not guarantee protection against panel wear; follow your TV manufacturer's care guidance.

WHAT YOU NEED

Android TV or Google TV running Android 11 or newer, with at least 2 GB of RAM. A 4K output makes the most of the source images. Internet access is needed to download artwork; downloaded images are cached for playback.
