About CrownMinute: History Clock

CrownMinute puts the history of England on your home screen and helps you prepare for the Life in the UK test. Its widget reads the clock as a year: at 17:07 it shows the Act of Union of 1707, at 12:15 the year of Magna Carta.

DISCLAIMER: CrownMinute is an independent app. It does not represent any government entity and is not affiliated with the UK Government, the Home Office or the official Life in the UK test. Its practice questions are not the official test questions. Official information about the test and how to book it: https://www.gov.uk/life-in-the-uk-test

FREE HOME-SCREEN WIDGETS
- History: most clock times read directly as a year. The late evening holds the years that can't be written as a time, such as 1066 or 1588, and the minutes before midnight cover the BCE era. Tap it to open the full story of the event it shows.
- Monarch: today's date beside the king or queen of that year. Tap it to open their ruler card.
- "Law or myth?": an odd old English law every two minutes. Tap it to answer: real law or myth?

INSIDE THE APP
From the first footprints of early humans in Britain to today, CrownMinute covers 685 carefully written events: kings and queens, battles and treaties, charters, plagues and revolutions. Each one is a short story with a clear "why it mattered" and a question to think about.
- Ruler cards: all 154 rulers, from Cassivellaunus to Charles III, each with a short biography, their key event and the events of their reign.
- Cause and effect: 91 chains link events to what caused them and what followed.

PREMIUM: LIFE IN THE UK TEST PRACTICE
A one-time Premium purchase adds practice for the test:
- 1,200 multiple-choice questions in 50 themed sets on history, government and the law, everyday life and culture. Every answer comes with an explanation.
- Practice papers of 24 questions with a 75% pass mark, the same length and pass mark as the real test, and a record of every paper you finish.
- A Life in the UK widget with a new question every two minutes.
- A Life in the UK focus that narrows the timeline to the events that matter most for the test.
- Russian and Ukrainian translations of the events, the ruler cards and the quiz.

The timeline, the ruler cards and the three widgets are free in English. The test practice and its widget, the focus and the translations are part of the optional one-time Premium purchase, handled by Google Play. No subscription, no ads, no account; works offline.
