Guirbaden Castle, Mollkirch, Bas-Rhin, Alsace
This fortified castle bears witness to the time when Alsace was part of the Holy Roman Empire.
Guirbaden Castle was built between the 10th and 13th centuries.
The castle is located in Alsace, in the Bas-Rhin, one kilometer from the village of Mollkirch.
It is located on the hills which dominate the Bruche Valley.
It is one of the oldest and largest castles there is: 2 hectares.
There are no longer any ruins of this castle left. The main building, sections of the surrounding walls, the keep as well as the St Valentin chapel and the Hunger Tower still remain.
The castle is located on the left bank of the Magel, a tributary of the Bruche, at an altitude of 565 meters on the Burckberg hill.
