UmpireApp: Field Hockey Umpire

UmpireApp: Field Hockey Umpire is a comprehensive match-day tool built specifically for field hockey umpires. From the warm-up coin toss to the final whistle, everything you need is one tap away — on your phone and on your Wear OS watch.

MATCH TIMING

Wall-clock anchored period timer with automatic keep-awake. Configurable for 2 halves or 4 quarters. Period-end confirmation prevents accidental auto-advance. 2-minute and 10-second period warnings with audio and vibration alerts.

SCORING & CARDS

One-tap goal entry with goal type (field goal, penalty corner goal, penalty stroke, own goal). Quick card buttons for green (2 min), yellow (5 or 10 min), and red cards. Full disciplinary incident report with voice dictation, signature pad, and PDF export. Card suspension countdown shown live on the scoreboard. Automatic card-expiry alerts with vibration.

WEAR OS WATCH INTEGRATION

Full control from your Wear OS watch — start/stop the timer, log goals and penalty corners, issue cards, all without touching the phone. Real-time score and timer mirrored to the watch. Ambient mode shows score and time at a glance between plays. Suspension countdown dots shown on watch. Watch vibrates on period warnings, card alerts, and every action. Double-tap the score on the watch to force an instant re-sync.

MATCH RECORDS

Full match history saved locally. Complete event timeline with goals, cards, penalty corners, incidents, and umpire notes. Edit any timeline event after the match. JSON export for your records. Match summary shareable as PDF.

PRE-MATCH TOOLS

Animated coin toss with result recording. Match warm-up timer. Pre-match audio self-test (whistle, alert, card sounds). Captain number entry with missing-captain warning. Match templates to save and reload your standard setup in seconds.

UMPIRE DEVELOPMENT

Post-match self-assessment tool with structured rating and moment-by-moment notes. Scheduled upcoming matches with reminders. Umpire signals quick-reference guide. FIH rules reference. AI-powered post-match review (requires your own Google Gemini API key).

DESIGN

Dark mode by default with a Sunlight Mode high-contrast theme for bright outdoor conditions. Match state auto-recovers if the app is closed mid-game. Foreground service keeps timing accurate when the screen is off.
