Bird Guard is a simple digital tool designed for poultry keepers who need to maintain clear and organized health reports for their birds. The application replaces scattered paper notes and mental lists with a single, straightforward system for documenting the daily care and medical observations of a flock. It is built to be fast, practical, and easy to use during or after rounds in the coop, pen, or aviary, without any distractions from the primary task of bird care.

The purpose of Bird Guard is strictly functional. It allows a keeper to create a structured log of health events, observations, and care actions for individual birds or the entire flock. There are no social features, no data sharing outside the user's own device, and no complex analytics. The application focuses entirely on the core need: writing down what you see and what you do, so the information is available later when you need it.

Core Function: The Medical Observation Log

The center of Bird Guard is the observation log. This is a time-stamped record where users document the health status of their birds. Each entry is intentionally simple in structure. The user selects a date and time, identifies the bird or group of birds, and writes a free-text description of the observation.

An observation might describe a physical finding, such as a change in comb color, a limp, an eye discharge, or an abnormal stool. It could document a behavioral change, like a bird isolating from the group, reduced appetite, or a change in vocalization. The free-text field accepts any detail the keeper finds relevant, without forcing the entry into pre-set categories that might not fit a specific situation. This flexibility is important because medical observations vary widely in nature and severity.

Each entry is saved automatically and added to a chronological list. The log can be scrolled through by date, allowing a keeper to review recent events quickly. If a bird has been seen by a keeper with a concern for three days, those three entries appear in sequence, giving an immediate picture of how the situation has developed or resolved. This removes the need to remember exactly what was noted on which day.
