About Guru: Learn Sanskrit Shlokas
Guru is an app for learning Sanskrit shlokas.
Learning a scripture by heart has always worked the same way: you listen, you repeat, and over time the words become part of you. Guru is built around this practice. Listen to each verse. Repeat it. Move forward when you are ready.
There are no flashcards, quizzes, or shortcuts. Just the verse, your voice, and a calm space to learn.
WHAT YOU LEARN
Guru begins with the Vishnu Sahasranama — one of the most widely recited Sanskrit scriptures in the Hindu tradition. It contains the thousand names of Lord Vishnu and is chanted in homes and temples across the world. Guru guides you through it verse by verse, giving each one the space it deserves.
HOW IT WORKS
Open Guru and find where you left off. Listen to the verse being chanted. Then repeat it yourself. When you feel ready, move to the next.
That is the entire learning loop — simple and effective, because it mirrors the way oral traditions have always worked.
YOUR PACE, YOUR PRACTICE
Some people learn a few verses in a single session. Others spend several sessions on one verse before feeling comfortable moving forward. Guru respects however you want to learn. Your progress is saved so you can return exactly where you left off.
CALM AND FOCUSED
Guru is designed to be distraction-free. There are no leaderboards, streaks, or social features. The app steps aside and lets you focus on the practice.
A GROWING LIBRARY
Guru is built to support additional Sanskrit scriptures over time. The Vishnu Sahasranama is where the journey begins.
Whether you are new to Sanskrit chanting or returning to a scripture you have known for years, Guru offers a quiet, respectful place to learn.
