About Simple MIDI Recorder
Plug in your keyboard, record, export as .mid file to easily import into your DAW — or just use it as a convenient way to save your song ideas.
It should work with any MIDI controller (such as a drum pad, but it has not been tested for that).
It features a basic playback mechanism for the last recorded track. This is intended to playback through your connected MIDI device. This app is not a MIDI player.
This is app is incredibly simple (perhaps too simple for some). There are existing mobile DAWs that can record USB MIDI, with additional features baked in. This is meant for a certain workflow where you'd like to simply record using your phone or tablet — to save your song ideas, and/or import the .mid file into your desktop DAW afterwards.
Completely free, no ads, no internet connectivity, no permissions required.

Fixed bug where background MIDI player apps were detected as hardware, preventing physical MIDI devices from connecting.

lovely ! though, it would be nice to have some kind of activity LEDs next to the buttons to know if there's actual data transmitting, in case the midi device isn't detected for whatever reasons. I often have midi overruns (not because of the app) and then the midi connection silently stops until I unplug/plug. Then ...
Excellent App. Simple and very easy to use. Highly Recommended.
excellent. I wanted to record some piano ideas without having to set up my DAW every time. with this app I can record easily. then save the mid file to use in the daw later. as a bonus it can then play back the file through my actual piano. I recommend this!
Works flawlessly.
