About AfterTrace: Detective Mystery

AfterTrace is a detective mystery game played inside recovered phones. In your first case a woman has gone missing, and the only witness is her phone.

Maya Arden, 27, leaves a restaurant at 21:44 and tells four people she is going home. At 01:23 her phone stops transmitting. It is handed to you exactly as it was found. Nobody tells you what matters. You read it the way you would read your own phone, and you work out what really happened.

HOW THE INVESTIGATION WORKS
• Explore the recovered phone: 14 apps, including messages, photos and deleted photos, call logs, voice notes, mail, notes, maps, files and a locked vault you have to find the way into.
• Anything you read is filed as evidence automatically, so you never take notes for the game.
• Answer the case questions with the evidence that proves them. Every deduction you prove becomes new evidence.
• Reconstruct the night on the timeline. It fills in as you find evidence, and the gaps show what is still missing.
• Pin clues to the evidence board when you want to compare them.
• Interview the people involved. New questions open only once you have proven something worth asking about.
• Challenge a statement when the record contradicts it.
• When you are ready, make your accusation and back it with evidence.

A REAL INVESTIGATION, NOT A SCAVENGER HUNT
There are no quest markers pointing at the answer. Normal difficulty gives occasional hints, and a nudge when you ask for one. Detective difficulty gives no markers and no nudges: the record is all you get. The clues are all on the phone; noticing what doesn't fit is your job.

CASE 01 IS FREE AND COMPLETE
"The Last Signal" can be played from the first message to the final accusation without paying and without an account.

20 CONNECTED CASES
Cases 02 to 20 continue the story across four seasons, each built around a recovered phone. They are included in the All Access subscription, weekly or yearly. The price is shown in your own currency before you buy, and you can cancel any time in Google Play → Subscriptions.

OFFLINE, PRIVATE, IN YOUR LANGUAGE
• Every case, photo and recording is inside the app, so you can investigate offline. The internet is used only to buy or check a subscription.
• No ads and no account. Your progress stays on your phone.
• Play in English, हिन्दी (Hindi), Hinglish, Español, Português (Brasil), Deutsch, Français or 日本語. Voice notes play in English with a transcript in your language.

Every person, place and event in AfterTrace is fictional.
