Smart ticketing allows you to travel paperless, skip the queue at the ticket vending machine and speed up the collection. So don’t wait any longer, travel smart and switch now to mobile e-Tickets or our touch smartcard. Give your paper ticket the swan song it deserves.
What is a mobile e-Ticket?
They are the train tickets you book via our app. Mobile e-Tickets are available on single and return fares. They contain a QR code that you can scan at ticket gates or show it whenever you are asked for your ticket. How mobile e-Tickets work:
• Book your ticket from our app or website
• Choose ‘Download a mobile ticket’ as your delivery option if available
• Open your mobile e-Ticket from ‘My Tickets’ within our app – no need to activate it
• Hold your device against the reader to open the ticket gate*
Where mobile e-Tickets can be used:
Available on single and return fares on most Avanti West Coast routes*.
You can download the Avanti West Coast app using the free Wi-Fi at selected Avanti West Coast stations. Registration required. Advance Single fares must be booked up to 18:00 the day before travel.
You can book mobile e-Tickets on all single and return Super Off-Peak, Off-Peak and Anytime fares for Standard and First Class (subject to availability) up to 5 minutes before train departure. In the unlikely event that your mobile e-Ticket isn’t working at the gate, show it to our station staff and they’ll help you. Don't forget to charge your phone – if you can’t show your mobile e-Ticket to station staff you’ll need to buy a new ticket on the day. Limited gates withbarcode readers available at selected stations.
