About LASER558

Recreating LASER558, the fantastic Pirate Radio station that broadcast from the North Sea in the mid-eighties. Forty years on, LASER558 still uses the same music format as the original station did in the 1980s. We use the same ‘Hot Clock’ filled with hits of the time and a range of oldies, all from the same era and genres that LASER558 used all those years ago. Mix in the voices of the original DJs, a few nostalgic ads, and all the jingles you remember, and you’d swear that the Soviet Union was still boycotting the Summer Olympics, The Terminator was on at the movies, Margaret Thatcher was still Prime Minister, and, more importantly than anything, Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends were on the TV for the first time! Our Lasergram page allows you to communicate directly with us, requesting the hits you want us to play on LASER558. During the week, you get to choose the hits that we play and also get to choose ALL the music overnight. On a Sixties Sunday, you get to choose the hits from the Sixties and hear them on LASER558. Search through our hits, request a song, then sit back and wait for it as every request gets played.

Wow! What a great app, and I LOVED Laser in the 80s. It's great to see it back. Thank you!
