About Helicopter Pilot Checkride

Using a question-and-answer format, Helicopter Pilot Checkride lists the questions most likely to be asked by examiners during the last step in the private, instrument, commercial, ATP pilot and flight instructor certification process – the Practical Exam – and provides succinct, ready responses. Applicants will find this App an indispensable tool in both planning for what to expect during the airplane checkride, and mastering the subject matter. Instructors rate them as excellent preparation for students, as well as general refresher material. This app should be used in conjunction with the Private Pilot, Instrument Pilot, Commercial Pilot, or Flight Instructor Checkride apps for complete preparation for the Helicopter checkride.

This Helicopter Pilot Checkride app is based on the popular Helicopter Pilot Oral Exam Guide book by Ryan Dale. It is designed for applicants training for a helicopter rating on their pilot certificate. More than 400 questions and responses ensure the subjects a helicopter pilot candidate will be tested on during checkrides and review flights are covered. Questions are organized by the certificate (Private Pilot, Instrument Pilot, Commercial Pilot, Certified Flight Instructor, Airline Transport Pilot) and include these topics: certificates and documents, cross-country flight planning, performance and limitations, helicopter systems, emergency operations, instrument flight, logbook entries and certificate endorsements, hovering maneuvers, takeoffs, landings and go-around, fundamentals of flight, performance maneuvers, special operations (such as high, low, and ground resonance, confined area operations, and pinnacle/platform operation), equipment examination, and regulations. Answers and explanations were researched using FAA documents (which are identified so pilots know where to go for further study) as well as interviewing FAA examiners. Questions can be marked for further study from any subject to build your own collection of flashcards. The Applicant Practical Test Checklist for Private, Instrument, and Commercial pilots, along with the normal maneuver speeds for the R-22 are also included.

Compatible with Android devices, this app teaches applicants not only what to expect, but also how to exhibit subject mastery and confidence when under the examiner’s scrutiny. It identifies candidates’ strengths, weaknesses, and gaps in their aeronautical knowledge, which increases study efficiency.
