Maavel is meant for organic products. Ours is the largest company with branches across the country and the leading producers of wood pressed oil. We dedicate our success to Tamil people for their immense support.

The Aim of our company “Maavel” is to give chemical free organic food products to people.

History :

In 2013, Maavel was initially started as a branch of Seemai Karuvelam (Prosopis Juliflora) Eradication Movement to fulfill the economic necessity of the people who depended on Seemai Karuvelam for their livelihood. It was a pioneer movement in encouraging people to eliminate Seemai Karuvelam. Through this movement there were more than 400 water bodies got repaired and restored. Since 2016, Maavel has been running as a private limited company under the head administration of Enathi Poongkathir Vel, head coordinator of the movement. To keep in mind the rural economic development, we have our head office in Ramanathapuram district, Enathi village. We are also having regional offices in Mudukulathur and Chennai for the ease of administration.

The origin and the meaning of the name “Maavel”

Seemai Karuvelam Eradication Movement had proposed the scheme “Maatru Velanmai”, meaning “Alternative Agriculture” in English, to promulgate awareness and to do field works against the use of chemical fertilizers in the name of modern agricultural methods. Based on yielding and selling food products traditionally based on the scheme “Maatru Velanmai”, the people of the movement had suggested the name “Maavel”- the initial letters of the Tamil words “Maatru Velanmai”. According to Tamil grammar, the word “Maave” was an incomplete noun. From Tamil literature, we came to know the word “Maavel” literally refers to the Great Empire. The word “Maavel” was found only in the verse of Purananooru in Tamil literature.

It is the duty of a king to give unpolluted agricultural lands and safer foods to his subjects to lead them a healthy life. We have accepted such kingly duty as our principle. So the name “Maavel”- the Great Empire with Great Responsibility was opted and accepted wholeheartedly by our company.

Production & Marketing

We are having 80 direct branches and 30 wood pressed oil extraction companies in Tamilnadu, till date. Indeed, we are the leading company with many branches and wood pressed oil companies in India.

We are having 450 acres of farm lands and 10,000 people are indirect working for our companies. We are rehabilitating agricultural lands to become more fertile. We are procuring raw materials from the farmers’ association and the organic agricultural cooperative stores to produce food products and cosmetics. Based on the principle of giving native foods to native people, we are providing foods which were produced in Tamilnadu, for the people of its own state. Abide by our principle; we are concentrating on regional markets. We are appointing distributors in every district to sell our products. Maavel has people working for society round the clock. Thus we are having permanent distributors across Tamilnadu.

Maavel is directly selling the raw materials only. The company is selling the snack items which were prepared across Tamilnadu.
