About Guardian: Block Apps & Sites

Guardian is a blocker with a commitment lock. You decide what's off limits while you're clear-headed, and the app holds that decision through the moment you're not — when willpower is at its lowest and the excuse sounds most convincing.

HOW IT WORKS

Choose the apps you want blocked, turn on the adult content filter, and — if you want real backup — lock it in for a set amount of time. Once a commitment lock is running it cannot be turned off early. Not by an urge, not by a bad moment, not even by you asking nicely.

WHAT GUARDIAN BLOCKS

• Porn and adult websites, filtered at the DNS level — the block works across every browser and every app on your phone, not just one
• Any app you choose to restrict, covered by a full-screen block the moment you open it
• Its own uninstall, while a commitment lock is running — the whole reason for setting one

WHY THE LOCK MATTERS

Willpower is strongest before the urge hits and weakest during it. Guardian is built around that single fact. Most porn blockers and website blockers fail for the same reason: the person who installed them is also the person who can switch them off, and at 2am those are not the same person. A commitment lock closes that gap. Philosophers call it a Ulysses pact — you commit while you are clear, so that later-you cannot undo it.

BUILT FOR PRIVACY, NOT SURVEILLANCE

No account. No login. No cloud sync. No accountability partner reading a report of your browsing.

Guardian does not know which sites you visited, which apps you opened, or when. It checks in the moment, decides whether to block, and keeps no record. Everything it stores lives on your phone. Uninstall the app and it is gone with it. Quitting porn should not cost you your privacy.

HOW THE CONTENT FILTER WORKS (VPN PERMISSION)

Guardian uses Android's VpnService to filter adult content. That is what the VPN permission is for, and it is the only thing it does.

When protection is switched on, Guardian creates a local VPN entry on your device for a single purpose: to point your DNS at CleanBrowsing's Family Filter, so adult domains fail to resolve across every browser and every app rather than in one browser only.

Guardian does not route, tunnel, proxy, inspect, log or transmit your traffic. There is no Guardian server, and no browsing data ever leaves your device. The VPN carries no traffic at all - it exists only to apply the DNS filter. It runs while protection is on, and stops the moment you turn it off.

TRACK YOUR PROGRESS

See your current streak and your total protected time, privately, on your own device. No leaderboards, no sharing, nobody to report to.

WHO GUARDIAN IS FOR

Guardian is for anyone quitting porn and rebuilding their focus. If you are doing NoFap, working on a reboot, counting clean days, recovering from porn addiction, or attempting a dopamine detox or digital detox, this is the piece that holds when motivation runs out.

It is also a plain app blocker and website blocker. Plenty of people use it to cut screen time, block social media, stay off distracting sites during work, and build self control and discipline without any of the above.

MADE FOR THE HARD MOMENTS

Late nights. Boredom. Stress. Travelling alone. The moments where you know exactly what is about to happen and know you will regret it. Set your limits in the morning and Guardian carries them into the night.

Guardian is a tool that supports a decision you have already made. It is not therapy and it is not a substitute for professional support if you need it. It is the wall that holds when you need it to.
