Hotspot Tether Link Utility

BEFORE YOU START
Tether Link Utility is a hotspot tool. It shares data over a specific protocol (SOCKS5) without interruption, so your other devices can get online.
• To really use it, the phone in Share mode must be connected to the internet.
• Connect your other devices to that phone's SOCKS5 with the QR code: tap START SHARING, then Show QR code.
• Need help? On your other device that has Tether Link Utility, open Connection help, or tap Share mode at the top, choose "Use another phone's internet" and follow the steps.
• If the other device is a computer, tap START SHARING, pick its type (Windows, Mac, Linux) and follow the steps.

Tether Link Utility runs a local SOCKS5 proxy on your Android phone and shares it over Wi-Fi hotspot. Your other devices send their traffic to the phone, and the phone forwards it over its mobile data connection. No remote server is involved. Everything runs on your device.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Tap START SHARING. The Wi-Fi hotspot turns on automatically.
2. Show the QR code. It carries the Wi-Fi network and the proxy address together.
3. Connect your device. Android phones scan and join automatically. Windows and Mac use a small setup file or script. iPhone uses the free Potatso app.
4. Start browsing.

WHY THE VPN PERMISSION
Tether Link Utility uses Android's VpnService to create a local VPN interface on your phone. It is needed for two features:
• Share mode: the local VPN keeps the SOCKS5 sharing service running in the background, so your other devices stay online when the screen is off or you switch apps. It does not route this phone's own traffic.
• Use another phone's internet: the local VPN sends this phone's traffic to the SOCKS5 proxy on your other phone over its Wi-Fi hotspot, so every app on this phone can use that phone's mobile data.
Traffic only moves between your own devices on the local Wi-Fi hotspot, then out to the sites you visit over the sharing phone's mobile data. There is no external VPN server, and your traffic never passes through any server of ours. The app does not collect, log or sell the traffic it handles and does not use the VPN for ads. Android shows a key icon while the VPN is on; tap STOP or DISCONNECT to turn it off at any time.

PRIVACY
