About VeganCheckr: Vegan Scanner
Know what’s in your food with VeganCheckr. Scan a barcode, search for a product, or check an ingredient list to explore its vegan and vegetarian status.
SCAN AND SEARCH
Use your camera to scan packaged-food barcodes, enter a barcode manually, or search by product name. Product information comes from Open Food Facts, so availability and detail vary by product.
CHECK INGREDIENTS AND ADDITIVES
Photograph a printed ingredient list, choose a photo, or enter text to analyze it. Review flagged animal ingredients and E-numbers, with explanations for ingredients whose source needs checking. Text recognition supports printed Latin-script labels.
SEE THE EVIDENCE
Explore vegan and vegetarian results alongside the ingredient evidence. Results can indicate vegan, non-vegan, potentially animal-derived, or insufficient information. Separate ingredient concerns from “may contain” statements.
EXPLORE PRODUCT DETAILS
View available nutrition facts, including energy, protein, carbohydrates, sugars, fat, saturated fat, fiber, salt, and sodium. Review reported allergens, additives, product labels, and other available product information.
SAVE AND COMPARE
Revisit saved product history offline, compare products side by side, and set personal ingredient avoidance alerts. Explore suggested alternatives and open your maps app to look for vegan places. New product lookups require an internet connection.
OPTIONAL PREMIUM
Upgrade to access full ingredient details and product origin and supply-chain information where available. Premium is offered as a weekly or annual subscription, or as a lifetime one-time purchase. No free trial. Available information depends on the product record.
No account is required to use VeganCheckr.
Product records and recipes can change. VeganCheckr provides ingredient-based guidance, not certification or medical advice. Always check the current packaging and contact the manufacturer when an ingredient’s source is unclear. Do not rely on the app to determine whether a food is safe for an allergy.
