TeenApp is a mobile learning platform developed to empower adolescents in Uganda—particularly in pastoral communities such as those in the Karamoja sub-region—with accurate, engaging, and age-appropriate Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) education. The app harnesses the power of artificial intelligence through a locally fine-tuned Large Language Model (LLM), offering an interactive learning experience where users can ask questions and receive reliable, conversational responses.

Designed with direct input from young people, educators, health practitioners, and researchers, TeenApp reflects a society-centered approach to technology development. This inclusive process ensures the app addresses the real needs of its users, encourages community ownership, and supports long-term adoption and impact. Content within the app is guided by the World Health Organization’s Comprehensive Sexuality Education guidelines, ensuring that the information delivered is trustworthy and contextually relevant.

TeenApp adapts to individual learning needs, offering personalized content that helps users better understand key SRH concepts and make informed decisions. Its mobile-first design ensures accessibility on smartphones, helping to bridge the gap in SRH education for adolescents in low-resource settings.

In future updates, TeenApp will include features such as interactive quizzes to reinforce learning, a moderated peer support network, location-based access to nearby SRH services, and multilingual support to cater to users who speak different local languages. These enhancements are aimed at creating a holistic, inclusive, and engaging learning environment for young people navigating the complexities of adolescence.
