TeachAssist - YRDSB BetterTA

BetterTA (BetterTeachAssist) is a modern, student-built replacement for the TeachAssist system provided by YRDSB.

TeachAssist is essential, but it can be cluttered, slow, and hard to understand. BetterTA takes the same grade information students rely on and presents it in a clean, easy-to-read interface designed for how students actually use it today.

By securely connecting to TeachAssist, BetterTA allows YRDSB students to view grades, assignment breakdowns, course averages, and overall academic progress in one simple dashboard. No digging through pages — just clear academic insight at a glance.

BetterTA goes beyond being just a grade viewer. It includes school-specific and course-specific chat spaces where students can ask questions, share study tips, and support each other. Chats are anonymous by default to encourage participation, while built-in safeguards help maintain a respectful environment.

Privacy and student control come first. BetterTA only accesses academic data with the student’s permission, never displays personal identities in chats, and contains no ads, no subscriptions, and no hidden fees.

Built by students, for students, BetterTA modernizes TeachAssist for YRDSB – turning a required system into a better experience that brings clarity, confidence, and connection to everyday school life.
