Balbuu is a speech sound play app, created by a speech therapist for children to play at home — alone, with an adult nearby, or while following the work of the speech therapist who treats the child.

The idea is simple: the child hears the sound, sees the mouth making the sound, repeats it, and plays. No charges, no error screen, no scorecard.

WHO IT'S FOR

For children with ASD (autism), ADHD, and typically developing children with speech delays or developmental delays. It's a speech stimulation app to play at home: it's not a treatment and does not replace evaluation or follow-up with a speech therapist.

There is no specific age limit. Balbuu is for any child who is learning to speak or who still mixes up sounds — whether it's a 2-year-old just starting out or an older child who still says "tasa" instead of "casa" (house). Most of the content was created for the window in which speech is organized, but the 33 sounds are always available: you can play with a specific sound at any age.

MADE BY THOSE WHO TREAT

Balbuu was created by Filipe Silvestre, a speech therapist (CRFa 5-13357), in Anápolis/GO, and is used by 26 speech therapists in Brazil with their patients.

The order in which the sounds appear is not random: it follows the sequence of speech sound acquisition described in the literature of the field. The phonological basis of the app was reviewed by a PhD in Linguistic Studies.

IMPORTANT

Balbuu is a support for speech stimulation. It does NOT replace evaluation and therapy with a speech therapist. If you have doubts about your child's speech, seek a professional.

The child's voice recordings remain only on the device — they are not sent to us.
