About Motion Cues
Reading, texting, or watching something on your phone while riding in a car often triggers motion sickness — your eyes tell your brain the world is still, while your inner ear feels every turn, brake, and bump. Motion Cues closes that gap without asking you to look up.
BUILT WITH PRIVACY IN MIND
Motion Cues doesn't collect any data. There's no internet permission in the app at all — sensor readings are processed on your device and immediately discarded. No accounts, no analytics, no ads.
HOW IT WORKS
Motion Cues uses your phone's motion sensors to detect real vehicle movement — braking, accelerating, cornering — and overlays a field of faint dots near the edges of your screen that stream in the same direction real scenery would move outside the window. Your eyes pick up the matching motion in your peripheral vision, where motion sensitivity is highest, while the center of the screen stays completely clear so you can keep reading whatever you were reading.
WORKS OVER ANY APP
The overlay draws on top of whatever you're using — your book app, browser, or messages — so there's nothing to switch to and nothing to relearn. Taps pass straight through; the dots are purely visual and never get in your way.
ONE TAP, FROM ANYWHERE
Add the Motion Cues tile to your Quick Settings panel and turn the effect on or off with a single tap, without ever opening the app — even from inside whatever you're already using.
TUNE IT TO YOU
Everyone's sensitivity is different, so every part of the effect is adjustable:
• Dot speed, size, and opacity
• Dot color (light, gray, or dark, for contrast against light or dark apps)
• How much of the screen stays clear in the center
• Sensor smoothing and sensitivity, for tuning from the passenger seat on a real drive
PERMISSIONS
• Display over other apps — required to draw the overlay
• Notifications — shows a persistent notification with a Stop button while the overlay is running (an Android requirement for background services)
Motion Cues is a lightweight assist based on the sensory-conflict theory of motion sickness — it's not a medical device and results vary person to person, but many people find that giving their eyes something that matches what their body feels makes a real difference on a long car ride.
