About Morning: Challenge Alarm Clock
Morning is a memory alarm clock. Write one thing before bed. At dawn those words go missing, and you type them back from memory to stop the ringing — so you wake up already thinking about the day you said you'd have.
■ THE MORNING NOTE
Before bed, tell Morning one thing. A promise for tomorrow — no cigarette before noon, a run before the shower — or simply the thing you must not forget. When the alarm fires, the words that matter are blanked out. Get the first few letters right and the word snaps into place. Your 6 AM brain gets no free passes.
No other alarm does this.
■ EIGHT WAYS TO PROVE YOU'RE AWAKE
Memory is the signature, not the only one — and you can chain a second challenge behind the first when one stops being enough.
Morning Note — fill back your note's most important words
Math — solve equations until your head clears
Typing — type a phrase exactly, no paste
Shake — shake the phone hard, and yourself awake
Riddle — answer it; thinking is the point
QR tag — print a tag, stick it across the room, go scan it
Pair match — match 3 picture pairs, dodge the imposter
Colour trap — tap the colour, not the word
■ AS HARD AS YOU NEED, NOT AS HARD AS WE THINK
Every alarm is configured on its own — its own challenge, sound, volume ramp, snooze rules and difficulty. Three levels, and they change the work, not the label:
Gentle — math is 7 + 3, and the note hands your words back as tiles to tap
Normal — math is 7 x 5, and you type the words yourself
Hard — three rounds of 7 x 5 + 3, shake wants 40 not 15, the riddle hides among five answers, and the note asks for the whole line again from memory
So set a gentle alarm for ordinary weekdays and a brutal one for the morning you cannot miss. Chain a second and third challenge behind the first when one stops working. Cap snooze at two, shrink it each time, or switch it off entirely.
You choose how much mercy you get. Morning-you has to live with it.
■ RINGS THROUGH EVERYTHING
Silent mode, Do Not Disturb, locked phone — the alarm still fires at full volume. A wake-up check 3 minutes after dismissal catches you if you crawled back under the covers. Set your snooze policy the night before, when you're strong — from a gentle limit to full "No mercy" snooze-lock. Morning-you has to live with it.
■ KEEP YOUR WORD, WATCH IT ADD UP
In the evening, Morning asks one question about last night's note: did it happen? Kept promises build a chain beside your wake streak — "Partly" counts, and a night without a note doesn't break it.
■ UNDERSTANDS 10 LANGUAGES
Write your note in English, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese, Italian, Romanian, Dutch, Polish or Turkish. Morning detects the language and blanks the words that matter — names, times, subjects — not just the longest ones.
■ FREE VS PREMIUM
Free: the Morning Note and Math challenges, standard snooze, system alarm sound, home-screen widget, milestone celebrations.
Premium: every challenge type, sound packs, snooze-lock policies, full streak stats, and a widget with 14 nights of history. The yearly plan opens with a 7-day free trial for new subscribers.
■ YOUR DATA
Your notes, alarms, streaks and stats are yours — Morning never sends them anywhere. No account, no sign-up, no ads, ever. The internet is used for the optional morning briefing (weather and headlines) and for crash reports that help fix alarms that fail; you can switch those off in Settings.
Morning is for people who have tried the gentle apps, the sunrise lamps, and the three backup alarms — and still wake up at noon, angry at themselves. It's not here to mock you. It's here to make waking up something you do once, properly, and then own the rest of your day.
Write the note at night. Earn it back at dawn. Keep it by evening.
What’s new
Version 0.5.1 · Updated September 4, 2026
Your language, your Settings, and a real moon. A native speaker corrected all six translations, and Morning now confirms a subscription and says what happened when one fails. Settings has fewer boxes and a shorter list, with each row showing what it is set to. "Permissions" is now "Alarm reliability". The Home moon shows tonight's actual phase, worked out on your phone.
