About Архангел (Архистратиг) Михаил
The Archangel Michael is mentioned only briefly in the Bible: in the Book of Daniel, the Epistle of Jude, and the Book of Revelation.
The Archangel Michael's main deed, as we know from Scripture, is his victory over the devil. The Book of Revelation states:
* Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon fought and his angels, but prevailed not, neither was their place found any more in heaven. Revelation 12:7–8
* The great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. Revelation 12:9
Archangel Michael, translated from Hebrew, means "who is like God?" or, slightly differently, with a questioning intonation, "who is like God?" He is called the Archangel because he led the heavenly host that rebelled against the angels who had fallen away from God and their leader, the devil.
