About Tanabari: Pay & Rent Compare

Tanabari is an invite-only way for 3–8 people who already know each other to compare pay or rent without sending readable amounts to the relay server.

Create a ceremony, share its one-time invite code, and approve the people you recognize. Everyone seals an amount before the comparison begins, so nobody has to disclose first or change an entry after seeing someone else's result.

Each participant receives a deliberately limited result:

• Below the group middle
• Around the group middle
• Above the group middle

For groups of five or more, participants may also receive the group middle. It is encrypted to the participants and is not stored as a readable number by the relay. Smaller groups do not receive a numerical middle.

Small groups have real limits. With exactly three people, a Below or Above result identifies that person's side of the complete three-person order. If participants compare result screens, most or all of the order can be learned. Tanabari explains this before sealing and beside every small-group result. It is a private sealed comparison, not a promise of anonymity.

Built for unreliable connections, each ceremony uses signed, resumable steps. If a phone disconnects or the app closes, it can continue from the shared transcript without submitting the private amount again.

Privacy and control:

• Readable pay and rent amounts stay on participant devices
• The relay accepts only signed metadata and opaque encrypted artifacts
• Sessions expire automatically after two hours
• The creator can delete a ceremony early
• No public profiles, discovery, feed, chat, employer access, analytics, or advertising
• Optional biometric and PIN app locks protect local session material

Tanabari provides a private comparison result. It does not decide whether pay or rent is fair, provide financial or legal advice, or recommend what anyone should earn or pay.
