YetiRunner — Suivi GPS course

YetiRunner allows runners to share their live GPS location during their race, so that loved ones, race organizers, and spectators can follow them on the event's tracking map.

The app does one thing, and it does it well.

HOW IT WORKS
1. Open the app on race day: it displays the day's events.

2. Tap "Share my location," then enter your bib number and the first three letters of your last name.

3. Confirm: your location is added to the tracking map, linked to your bib number.

4. Put your phone away. Tracking continues with the screen off until you tap "Stop GPS sharing."

NO ACCOUNT TO CREATE
No email, no password, no registration. An anonymous guest profile is created on your device upon login, and you can delete it at any time from the Privacy screen.

DESIGNED FOR TRAIL RUNNING AND ULTRA RUNNING
• Background tracking: screen off, phone in your pocket or bag.

• Battery life optimization: GPS acquisition rate automatically adjusts to battery level, time elapsed since the start, and whether you are moving or stationary.

• Unreliable network coverage: when out of range, positions are queued and sent as soon as the signal is restored.

• Built-in map: the mapping engine is integrated into the app; the map displays even without a network connection at the start.

• Outdoor map background: terrain, contour lines, trails, and the official race route are overlaid.

• Course progress: distance covered and alerts if you stray from the route.

IS YOUR PHONE READY?

Before each start, the app checks the settings on which tracking depends: location permission "Always," precise location, notifications, and, most importantly, permission to run in the background. Each marked point has a button that names its destination, then opens the Android settings. On some brands, the system automatically closes background apps, which would stop your tracking mid-race: the app notifies you of this before the start.

WHAT IS SHARED, AND WITH WHOM? During the race, your precise location, bib number, and name (taken from the organizer's start list) are publicly visible on the YetiKrono tracking interface. Your GPS location history is automatically deleted 7 days after it is recorded. Sharing stops as soon as you tap "Stop GPS sharing," and location permission can be revoked at any time in the Android settings.

WHICH RACES?

YetiRunner works with timed events using YetiKrono: trail running, ultra-trail running, marathons, half-marathons, road races, hiking, and multisport raids. If your race isn't listed, it means the organizer isn't using YetiKrono yet—contact them about it.

The app is free, ad-free, and has no in-app purchases.
