About Thought-filled Words by Sonder
365 untranslatable words for the feelings we all have and rarely have language for — each one a painting that moves when you touch it.
The first words are yours the moment you open the app. One purchase unlocks the whole collection, for life. No ads, no account, no subscription.
Certain feelings seem too specific to be captured by one word. Until you read a word whose definition describes them so perfectly that you realize you're not the only person to have felt them.
It looks like a museum: every word hangs as a painting that wakes when you touch it. It feels like a book: you wander page by page, at your own pace, with nothing asking anything of you.
Every word becomes a scene of its own: a few seconds of light and motion that fill the screen. You can sit inside it, drag back through it frame by frame, and hold it still whenever you want. Erik Satie's Gymnopédies play softly the whole way through.
No two scenes look alike, and yet you never jump. Each painting finds its way into the next through a transition made only for that pair — unpredictable every time, obvious the moment you see it.
Behind each word is far more than a definition. There's a moment, written to let you feel it from the inside. All of it rests on paper you can make your own: the texture, the typeface, the torn edge, the colors you mark your favorites in. A book that happens to live on your screen.
It even begins the way a book does, with an overture, a poem, a slow breath, before opening into chapters you move through at your own pace.
• Rare, untranslatable words for feelings you've never had language for
• Every word its own full-screen scene, with a transition made for each pair
• An immersive "moment" for every word, prose that shows a feeling instead of defining it
• A reading space you can shape: paper, type, edges, and colors
• 365 words across 19 chapters
• Free to begin. The rest of the collection costs less than a movie ticket, once, and it's yours for life. No subscription.
• Fully offline. After the purchase, the full collection arrives with one in-app download (about 11 GB, over Wi-Fi), and never needs the internet again.
• Built in 26 languages from the ground up, each with its own intros, poem, and voice
And somewhere in the hundreds of words ahead, you might find the one you've been trying to put into words all along.

• Five free words from the collection. • Every language now has its own typefaces, named in its own words, to choose in Settings. Vietnamese and Romanian keep their own letters throughout. • The butterflies take their colours from the flowers, a new pair each time you open the app. • The download page now says how many words are yours and how many are still to come.
User reviews
Native, tablet specific layouts and adjustments look and feel perfect for phones versus tablets as well!
Obviously a bit biased to put it lightly as this is my project, but I think this application is something that can bring moments of intentionality and pause to others as it does for me :) I know that the application is not perfect and for anyone who reads this review, thank you for reading and I'll be making regular...
I've been really enjoying this app. I take a few minutes with it each day and it gives me a little something positive to reflect on and has quickly become part of my routine.
Love this app. It puts words to feelings I’ve had but never knew how to describe. Each word feels like a little experience, not just a definition. The beautiful transitions, colors, and typography make it so immersive. It’s thoughtful, unique, and honestly just a joy to explore.
