Scriven Chat

BEFORE YOU INSTALL: Scriven Chat writes replies with Gemini Nano, the AI model built into some recent Android phones (for example Pixel 9 and newer, and recent flagships from several other makers). On phones without it, the app opens and can read, search, import and export chats, but it cannot create new replies. There is no cloud fallback, by design.

Scriven Chat is a private AI chatbot that runs on device. Your messages, files, voice transcripts, and saved memories are processed locally and are not sent to Scriven or a third-party AI service. Write a first draft, explore ideas, summarize a document, or talk through a question—all without an app account, ads, or a subscription.

CHAT YOUR WAY
Type a message, dictate into the composer, or use turn-taking voice conversation while the app is open. Read replies aloud with easy Pause, Resume, and Stop controls.

WORK WITH YOUR FILES
Attach text files, PDFs, and images. Ask questions about their contents, summarize key points, and open local source references. Long documents may be summarized from selected portions; the app tells you when coverage is partial.

KEEP WHAT MATTERS
Find saved conversations with local search. Organize ongoing work into projects, edit project instructions, and manage remembered details. Edit messages into new branches while keeping the original conversation. Drafts save automatically.

STAY IN CONTROL
Use temporary chats, optional app lock, local backup export and restore, and easy deletion with Undo and Trash recovery. Conversations and attachments stay on your device unless you choose to share or export them. Scriven Chat has no app-operated AI server, no automatic cloud sync, and does not request internet access.

DEVICE REQUIREMENTS
Requires a compatible Android phone with system on-device AI (Gemini Nano through Android AICore) available, enabled, and its model downloaded and ready. Installing the app does not add AI support to unsupported hardware; on other devices saved chats and search still work, but new replies are unavailable. Availability depends on device, language, and region. Initial system model and speech asset downloads are handled by Android and may require an internet connection. Voice input requires microphone permission and on-device speech recognition.

KNOW THE LIMITS
Scriven Chat does not browse the web or provide live information. On-device AI can make factual mistakes, miss details, and produce incomplete answers. Check important information against reliable sources. Voice conversation and playback are designed for foreground use.
