Old Ways: Maps & Terrain

Discover the past where you stand today.

Old roads once ran here, settlements stood, rivers changed course and borders shifted. Many of these places can no longer be found on modern maps, yet their traces survive on historical maps.

Old Ways helps you explore the past of a place by combining old maps with modern satellite imagery.

Compare maps from different eras, find forgotten names and settlements, explore the terrain, measure distances and work with your own map material.
