IoU

IoU is the simplest way for two people to keep track of who owes whom.

You are travelling with someone. One of you pays for dinner, the other covers the taxi, and by the third day nobody remembers the running total. IoU is one screen that settles it: tap the green side when you paid for them, the red side when they paid for you, type the amount and a short note. The balance sits at the top, always from your point of view.

WHY IT IS DIFFERENT

IoU is built for two people who trust each other but still like to keep things
straight. Every entry — and every edit and deletion — is a proposal the other person approves. That is on purpose. A trip ledger is full of small negotiations ("that dinner was mostly yours"). IoU lets you have those out loud instead of pretending the numbers are gospel. If you would rather not be asked every time, turn on auto-approve — separately for adding, editing and deleting.

HOW IT WORKS

• One screen, split green and red. Tap a side, enter an amount and a note, done.
• The balance is always shown from your side, so you never have to work out the sign.
• Settle up with one tap when cash changes hands — it zeroes the balance for you.
• See the full history, with the time each entry was made.
• Link two phones with a QR code. From then on you share one ledger, and each of you approves what the other adds.
• Works offline. Add entries with no signal; they sync when either phone next connects.

PRIVATE BY DEFAULT

No account, no sign-up, no email. The app asks for nothing about you. Until you link with someone, everything stays on your phone. When you do link, only the two of you can see the ledger. No ads, no trackers, no selling your data.
