DecibelTally

DecibelTally is a simple offline sound level (decibel) meter that turns your phone's microphone into a quick way to gauge how loud your surroundings are — no account, no ads, no internet connection required.

Live meter:
• Real-time estimated dB SPL reading from your microphone, computed from raw audio amplitude
• Animated level bar with color-coded quiet/moderate/loud/hearing-risk zones
• A manual calibration offset (+/- dB trim) if your device consistently reads high or low

Important: phone microphones are not calibrated acoustic instruments. DecibelTally's readings are estimates for general awareness only — not a professional, medical, or OSHA-certified sound-level measurement. Hardware sensitivity and automatic gain control vary between devices.

Measurement sessions:
• Start and stop a session to track sound levels over time
• See a live timeline graph of the session as it happens
• Current, minimum, maximum and average dB shown live
• Save a finished session with an optional label, or discard it
• Review saved sessions any time, with full min/max/average/duration detail
• Delete individual sessions or clear all history

Reference scale:
• A simple reference scale — quiet room (~30 dB), conversation (~60 dB), traffic (~85 dB), hearing-risk zone (100 dB+) — to make raw numbers meaningful
• General reference only, not medical or OSHA-certified guidance

Also included:
• System, Light, Dark and pure Black & White themes
• Clear microphone-permission rationale with graceful handling if access is denied
• All session history stored only on your device

DecibelTally works fully offline:
• No account required
• No advertisements
• No internet permission — nothing is ever transmitted anywhere
• No analytics or tracking
• Microphone audio is processed in memory only, never recorded to a file
