LANGUAGE HIIT: MIXED LEVELS BY DESIGN
HIIT = High-Intensity Interval Training.
Language HIIT is ENRURO’s metaphor for changing mental load during a vocabulary workout. Sessions intentionally mix CEFR levels:
• A1–A2 = warm-up
• B1–B2 = working set
• C1–C2 = tougher vocabulary, idioms, false friends, and subtler meanings
Easy card. Then maybe a C1 idiom. Not a bug — that’s the point! The changing load helps keep you out of autopilot.
USE THE CARDS YOUR WAY
ENRURO does not force a single study order. Flip a card whenever you want. It is useful to pause, think first and try to remember the word or phrase — give your brain a workout — or turn it over immediately and keep moving. No penalty for that.
The decision stays simple:
• “Learn” — keep the card active
• “Known” — remove it from normal rotation
• “Example” — open extra context
• “Undo” — reverse the last decision
Use buttons or swipes and move at your own pace. No AI assistant decides what you know or answers for you. The app provides the structure; you decide how to train.
WHY RECALL FIRST?
If you choose to pause and try to remember before checking the other side, there is research behind that idea. Studies of retrieval practice — often called the testing effect — have found that actively retrieving information can improve later retention compared with passive restudy.
Researchers also use the term “desirable difficulties” for effort that makes practice harder now but can support later learning. ENRURO takes inspiration from that idea too — without assuming harder is always better.
HOW SESSIONS ADAPT
A built-in offline planner chooses from active cards using CEFR-aware mixing and your daily goal. As easy vocabulary moves to “Known”, the remaining deck becomes more relevant — and often harder.
Daily progress is not a tap counter. “Learn” is not failure; it keeps a card active. To reach a goal of 10 “Known” cards, you might send just as many — or more — back to “Learn”. And that is okay! Few things stimulate the brain as effectively as an intellectual challenge — and those “Learn” cards are exactly that.

GALLERY — 70 MASCOTS
Enruro is inspired by my cat Jeeves, a Russian Blue. In the Gallery, he wears national costumes and cosplays as remarkable people from different countries.
A new image unlocks every 10 learned cards through the first 100, then every 100 cards. After all 6,000 cards, the final image represents something especially important to me — the shared destiny of all humanity 🌍.
I believe language barriers should be easier to cross and people should have more ways to understand one another. ENRURO is my personal project and my small contribution to that idea.
Respectfully,
Andrei
