About Iqra: Quran Memorization

Iqra helps you read, recite, listen to and memorize the Quran. Open the Mushaf and recite: Iqra listens on your phone or tablet, follows you word by word on the page, and notes possible slips so you can review them.

READ, RECITE, LISTEN
• Three modes at the bottom of the page: Read, Recite and Listen
• Focus leaves only the page on screen; it comes on by itself while you recite or listen

RECITE AND REVISE
• Tap the microphone and begin: the page follows your recitation word by word
• Possible slips, such as a missed or changed word or a wrong short vowel (harakah), are listed for review
• Repeating a word or restarting an Ayah is recognized, not marked as a mistake
• Recite any passage to find where it is in the Quran, with similar verses (mutashabihat)
• Progress shows your activity, the pages you have recited and your mistakes in one place

MEMORIZE
• Hide the words and each one appears as you recite it; tap the bulb for a hint of the next word
• Repeat an Ayah, or a stretch up to the end of the page, the Surah or an Ayah you choose, as many times as you need, with adjustable pauses and speed

LISTEN
• Well-known reciters in Murattal, Mujawwad and Muallim (teaching) styles
• Listening starts from the Ayah you are reading, and the page follows the reciter word by word
• The next Ayahs are fetched ahead, so each one begins without waiting

READ AND REFLECT
• Madani Mushaf (1421H and 1405H), Ottoman naskh in the style of Sheikh Hamdullah, IndoPak (13, 15 and 16 lines) and Uthmani digital text, one tap away on the Mushaf button
• Iqra first opens in the Mushaf read in your country: IndoPak in Pakistan, India, Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Nepal, Sheikh Hamdullah's naskh in Türkiye, the Madinah Mushaf elsewhere
• Three layouts: Pages, as printed; Continuous, every page in one scroll in larger letters you size with two fingers, with autoscroll at your pace; and Tafsir, with translations and tafsirs in full under each Ayah
• Optional Tajweed colors (Android 12 and later); Ayahs of Sajdah are highlighted on the page
• Translations of the meanings of the Quran in over 70 languages, and word-by-word meanings in 10 languages; your language's translation is built in
• Over 100 tafsirs in more than 30 languages, including Ibn Kathir, al-Muyassar, as-Sa'di, al-Mukhtasar, al-Qurtubi and at-Tabari; each downloads once and stays available offline
• Meanings & Tafsirs: choose the translations and tafsirs you study, and which of them read under each Ayah in the Tafsir view
• Search by Surah name or by the words of an Ayah or its translation; typos and other spellings are forgiven
• Reading history, and light, sepia and dark themes
• On phones and tablets, upright or on their side; a tablet on its side shows two facing pages
• Iqra in 9 languages; choose yours in Settings

KHATM
• Keep each khatm on its page: as you read on, it moves forward with you
• Several khatms side by side, each with Continue and Mark Page; set the page with − and + or type it
• Reading History shows when and how each khatm moved

YOUR LIBRARY
• Save any Ayah with one tap, and keep Ayahs in collections: Hifz, Dua and Tadabbur come ready, and you can add your own
• Write notes on an Ayah or a passage, and read them again in tafsir and in the Tafsir view
• An Ayah you slipped on is saved to Hifz in one tap
• Your library stays on your device and can be exported to a file

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
• Speech recognition runs on your device; your recitation is not uploaded while you recite
• No account, no ads, no tracking
• Feedback and problem reports, from Settings, are sent only when you send them; an email for a reply is optional

Mistake detection uses on-device speech recognition and can occasionally mishear, especially with background noise.
