About Tide: Binge Urge Support

Tide is a self-help app for binge eating urges. It meets you in the moment: the kitchen counter at midnight, the car before a difficult dinner, standing in front of the fridge after a hard day.

Five clinical pathways, each built for a different stage of a binge urge:

1. The binge urge is here: Work through a binge eating urge with urge surfing, grounding techniques, and a guided 5-minute timer designed to help the urge pass without acting on it.

2. I just binged: A shame-free pathway to process what happened. Check in with your emotions before and after, reflect on what led up to it, and write yourself a note for next time.

3. I'm mid-binge: No steps to follow. Just somewhere to land.

4. I'm anxious about eating: For when a meal feels overwhelming before it even begins. Check in with your body, name what you're anxious about, and move through it.

5. I'm running on empty: Calming games and simple tools for when structured support feels like too much.

Between paths, a full library of coping tools is available anytime: urge surfing, 5-4-3-2-1 grounding, slow breathing, body compassion, self-compassion, and more.

With consistent use, Tide can help shift how you move through difficult moments around food: more space between an urge and acting on it, a clearer sense of what's underneath the urge, and less time spent in shame afterward.

Developed by a Registered Psychotherapist trained in Mindfulness-Based Eating Awareness (MB-EAT) and CBT for eating disorders. Every technique in Tide is drawn from evidence-based clinical practice.

Tide is a self-help tool, not a substitute for professional mental health treatment. If you are struggling with an eating disorder, please reach out to a qualified healthcare provider in your region.
