Although Ford never officially announced it as a replacement for the Crown Victoria, the sixth-generation Taurus was sold in the full-size segment compared to many cars similar to previous sedans.
Moving away from the familiar styling of the previous two generations (which chief designer Jack Ternak likened to "a pair of slippers"), the Ford Motor Company is trying to make the Ford Taurus stand out among sedan buyers once again. Midsize, giving the car a more comprehensive facelift than its 1992 predecessor. Its first exterior refresh provides the Taurus with what Ford Motor Company calls a "smarter interior," offering luxuries like automatic climate control (optional). Ford Motor Company has ended production of the Taurus after the 2019 model year, along with the Fusion, Fiesta, and Focus sedans, due to the current growth in truck and SUV sales and declining sedan sales due to low fuel prices.
