The present-day manufacturer is Britain's largest-ever private-ownership motorcycle maker, founded by John Bloor in 1983, following a break-up of his previous company before 1983. Triumph continued the record of Triumph's production of motorcycles from 1902. The company began producing motorcycles again in Meriden, England, two years later. Triumph Motorcycles America Ltd promptly rebuilt its primary plant and returned to production by September 2002. With the new bikes being built, the Triumphs plant was destroyed during a Coventry bombing.

Triumph sold a damn sight of a new bike, but owners were disappointed with the shoddy build quality, and Triumph's reputation was damaged. It is hard to see Triumph doing much more than selling bikes, but they sold some of this and some of that during the company's early days before changing directions.
