About Ovara

The Ovara app is a nutrition education and lifestyle platform for females with polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). Unlike most nutrition recommendations you might find online, we have studied our diet recommendations in women with PCOS for over 10 years. Developed by a Registered Dietitian and two Reproductive Endocrinologists, Ovara is our way of bringing this information out of the research lab and into the hands of patients.

Learning

The Ovara team is passionate about providing individuals with credible and evidence-based education related to PCOS. PCOS is a complex syndrome to diagnose and treat, but one thing has been proven: all women with PCOS suffer from some degree of insulin resistance and high insulin levels. We at Ovara believe that lowering insulin levels is the key to reversing insulin resistance and managing PCOS. In fact, lowering insulin levels is the cornerstone of our research-proven plan.

The Ovara app educates patients with PCOS on what diet and lifestyle changes are best to effectively lower insulin levels, reverse insulin resistance, and improve PCOS symptoms and fertility. The app also features videos covering a wide range of PCOS-specific topics, such as irregular menstrual cycles, birth control pills, complexion-related concerns (acne, hair growth, and hair loss), medications, diagnosis, and routine lab work, and other general health topics. It is our passion to not only provide individuals with the knowledge and insight to reach their personal PCOS management goals, whether that is reducing troublesome hair growth, losing weight, or achieving pregnancy, but to empower them to feel comfortable talking with their doctors about their symptoms and making the choices needed to manage their syndrome effectively.

Inspire

Dealing with PCOS can be challenging, both physically and emotionally, but we have a variety of videos to help you feel inspired and motivated. Listening to other women with PCOS tell their stories about their journey and experiences can help you feel less alone in your struggle. There are also videos about overcoming the daily struggles of living with chronic conditions, exercise videos, and a few videos just for fun.

Nourish

The Ovara plan is a no counting, no points, no special foods, and no special meals diet. Eat all you want of the recommended foods and avoid or strictly limit those foods that are not recommended as much as possible. Foods that are not recommended are those that raise insulin levels and lead to worsened insulin resistance. On our app, you will learn how different food types affect your body and metabolism when you have PCOS. Instead of being a diet, this program is truly a set of guidelines to help you choose the best foods for YOUR metabolism because, unfortunately, your metabolism is different than that of women without PCOS. PCOS causes women to have excess insulin and testosterone levels, which can wreak havoc on their metabolism and hormones. Together, they make fat gain easy and fat loss IMPOSSIBLE!

In addition to a complete recommended foods list, use our personalized grocery list builder to help guide good decisions at the grocery store. Create and save as many lists as needed depending on the store or the occasion. We also provide a wide range of easy-to-make recipes and suggestions when dining out to help you stay on plan. We are working hard to make the Ovara app a comprehensive nutrition education and lifestyle app to help you manage PCOS.

Tracking (Coming soon!)

Soon our app will include the ability to track many of the symptoms of PCOS, so you can get an idea of how your symptoms are improving over time. Whether you want to track troublesome hair growth, acne, fertility and ovulation, menstrual cycles, weight, or labs (i.e., insulin, testosterone, blood glucose, LH/FSH, etc.), Ovara will be your comprehensive PCOS management app.
