Braid Hybrid Watch Face

Braid is a woven dial. Thick braided cord in teal, rust and sand loops around four dark wells, crosses in a stitched band at the centre and sits inside a navy rim with cream hour marks. Two pale metal hands turn over the time in figures and the date.

The weave is artwork: rope, cord and canvas drawn in fine detail and shown on your watch screen.

WHAT IS ON THE DIAL

- Analog hours and minutes
- The same time in figures under the hands, 24-hour or 12-hour
- The weekday and the day of the month, in your watch's language
- Four complications, one in each dark well
- Two app shortcut slots, either side of the time

FOUR COMPLICATIONS AND TWO APP SHORTCUT SLOTS

Press and hold the dial and tap Customize. Out of the box the four complications show:

- Top left: the weather, from Samsung Weather on a Galaxy watch (sunrise and sunset on other watches)
- Top right: the watch battery
- Bottom left: your step count
- Bottom right: your latest heart rate

Point any of them at another source and it follows: your next event, sunrise and sunset, and so on. Each one takes short text with the provider's icon, a ranged value shown as its number, or an icon on its own, and any of them can be left empty.

The two small round areas above the time are app shortcut slots. Give each one an app and a single tap opens it from the dial. They show the app's icon only, never text; an unused slot shows a thin ring.

YOUR CHOICES IN CUSTOMIZE

- Woven colours: five colourways - Original teal and rust, Ocean blue, Forest green, Violet and Ember red
- Hour format: 24-hour, or 12-hour with a small AM or PM above the figures

ALWAYS-ON

The always-on screen drops the weave, the hands and every complication, and keeps only the time and the day of the month in cream figures on black. It follows your 12 or 24 hour choice.

GOOD TO KNOW

The weather complication shows what your watch's weather app reports for your location. The face itself asks for no permissions. The Customize labels are in English in every language. There is no companion phone app, no account, no ads and no subscription.

SETTING IT UP

Buy it on your phone, then open the Play Store on your watch, where it is waiting in your library. Press and hold your current face, swipe to Braid and tap Customize.
