The story was mentioned in Surat Al-Qalam. Verse (17-33).
God said:
((Indeed, We tested them just as We tested the inhabitants of Paradise, when they swore to consume it in the morning and not make an exception. Then a party from your Lord passed over it while they were asleep.)
Then it became like a sorghum. So they called out in the morning, “Go to your tillage in the morning, if you are determined.”
So they set off, fearing that they would not enter it in the morning. A poor person is upon you, and they came in the morning in distress, and when they saw it, they said, “Indeed, we are astray.” Rather, we are deprived. The middle of them said, “Did I not tell you, ‘Why should you not exalt God?’ They said, ‘Glory be to our Lord! Indeed, we have been wrongdoers.’
So some of them turned to others, reciting.” Who say, “Oh, woe to us! Indeed, we were transgressors.” Perhaps our Lord will replace us with something better than it. Indeed, we long to our Lord. Likewise is the punishment, and the punishment of the Hereafter is greater for And they knew.)
This is a parable that God gave to the infidels of Quraysh, in what He bestowed upon them by sending them the great and noble Messenger, but they responded to him with denial and opposition.
As God Almighty said:
((Have you not seen those who exchanged the blessing of God for disbelief and made their people dwell in an abode of desolation, Hell, where they pray; and wretched is the abode.))
the story:
Ibn Abbas said:
He was an old man who had a garden, and he would not bring any fruit from it into his house or into his house until he had given everyone his right.
When the old man died and his children inherited from him - and he had five sons - their paradise carried a burden that it had not carried before in that year in which their father died, so the young men went to their paradise after the afternoon prayer.
They enjoyed a fruit and a virtuous livelihood, the likes of which they had never seen during their father’s lifetime.
When they looked at the virtue, they became arrogant and transgressed, and said to each other: Our father was a very old man, his mind was gone and he was senile, so come,
let us pledge and contract among ourselves that we will not give anything to any of the poor Muslims in this year of ours, until we become rich and our wealth increases, and then we will resume our work in the coming years. Coming. Four of them agreed with that, but the fifth was displeased, and he is the one who said:
(The middle of them said, “Did I not tell you, ‘If only you would glorify God’?”)
The middle of them said to them: Fear God and follow the example of your father. Be safe and take spoils. So they brutalized him and beat him severely. When the brother became certain that they wanted to kill him, he joined them in their consultations, hating their command and not obeying them, so they went to their homes and then swore to God that they would kill him in the morning, but they did not say, God willing.
So God afflicted them with that sin, and prevented them from that livelihood that they had been blessed with.
With this goal, we must read stories and read history. This is the story of the people of Paradise, presented by revelation, so that its events and lessons may be an admonition and a lesson for humanity.
