About Dieppe Raid

Dieppe Raid 1942 is a strategy boardgame set on the Western Front during the Second World War modelling the historical events at the company level. From Joni Nuutinen: By a wargamer for the wargamers since 2011

You are in command of the Allied force carrying out the 1942 raid on the port town of Dieppe. The aim is to capture as much of the nearby area as possible, hold it for a while, and evacuate before Germans gather their elite divisions in this coastal area for a counter-strike. Your score will reflect BOTH the cumulative VPs collected AND the number of units evacuated successfully.

The wider objective of this raid is multipronged: Help the Soviet Union with a major raid on the Western Front to distract and tie down future German forces, boost the morale of the British public, give the restless Canadian 2nd division (which has been practicing for two years) some real combat experience, test how easy it will be to seize a German fortified port town (which are needed to supply any major Allied invasions), and to capture various German secrets from the Radar station and local HQs, plus possibly get hands on a four rotor enigma machine located in the German admiralty headquarters. The challenge of this scenario: Things get good in places and it's difficult, at best, to cut and run before the inevitable German counterattack overwhelms your forces.

Fair warning: This is one of the more difficult campaigns in this game series.

The scoring is completely different compared to the other games: The final score will be cumulative Victory Points MULTIPLIED by the number of moveable combat unit successfully evacuated.

FEATURES:

+ Thanks to months and months of research the campaign mirrors the historical setup as accurately as possible within the limits of creating a game-play that does not completely crush the player's will to live

+ Thanks to a long list of in-built variation of terrain, location of units, weather, the never-twice-the-same AI logic, etc., each game provides a unique war gaming experience.

+ Plenty of options and settings to alter the visual look and how the user interface behaves.

Conflict-Series by Joni Nuutinen has offered highly rated Android-only strategy board games since 2011, and even the first scenarios are still actively updated. The campaigns are based on the time-tested gaming mechanics TBS (turn-based strategy) enthusiasts are familiar with from both the classic PC war games and legendary tabletop board games. I want to thank the fans for all the well thought-out suggestions over the years which have allowed these campaigns to improve at a much higher rate than what any solo indie developer could dream of. If you have advice on how to improve this board game series please use email, this way we can have a constructive back and forth chat without the limits of the store's comment system. In addition, because I have huge number of projects on multiple stores, it’s just not sensible to spend handful of hours each day going through hundreds of pages spread all over the Internet to see if there is a question somewhere -- just send me an email and I will get back to you. Thanks for understanding!

Another good new game from Joni. After playing a few matches, I highly recommend this one for its unique scoring system. You not only score for conquering objectives, like the other games. You also score for...

I never even expected to see a game based on the Raid, let alone one that has a good Orbat for it. It was interesting to try the easier levels to see a What If or two play out.
